Teacher Michelle McCasquer was fired from the Catholic school in New York after her leadership found out that she was pregnant.

However, the immediate reason for such a decision was the fact that the woman, expecting a child, did not plan to get married, reports Interfax-religion .

In her complaint, she stated that “she does not understand how a religion, which is proud of himself, professing the forgiveness and value of life,” can fire a person for deciding to have a child.

In turn, the school principal Teresa Andersen referred to the charter, which says that "the teacher cannot violate the principles of Catholic morality," but appreciated the "high degree of professionalism" McCascker.
