The Venice Film Festival will be held from August 30 to September 9

The Venice International Film Festival will be held this year from August 30 to September 9. This was officially announced the day before in Berlin, the director of the film festival Marco Müller and the president of the Venetian Biennale David Croff, RIA Novosti reports.

"The excellent results that showed the films selected for Venice -2005 became a reward for us for attentive and thoughtful work with organizational structures and with the press. But first of all, this is a tribute to the traditions of the festival," Croff said on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the Berlin film festival.

The festival in Venice is the oldest in the world. For the first time, the Venice Film Festival was held in July 1932. Even one of the Lyumier brothers was invited to the first honorary committee of the festival. Then the appearance of the film forum was met with enthusiasm. Newspapers were full of headings, the essence of which was that "cinema becomes the official art of our time."

American newspapers admired the unprecedented conditions of the competition: there is no censorship, the duration of the paintings is not limited, foreign directors are allowed to present their best paintings in the original language.

Now the international jury chooses the winners in the nominations: "Golden Leo" (the best film), a large jury prize (a special prize to the best director), the best film scene, a prize for the best female role, a prize for the best male role, "Leo of the Year". Sometimes additional bonuses are introduced.
