| The Fifth Russian annual exhibition Expo-Russia 2006, which will be held in the capital of Jordan, Amman, from March 14 to 16, is intended to open a new page in the development of economic relations between Russia and the countries of the Middle East region. The event will be held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian-Arab Business Council, as well as the Jordanian and Iraqi embassies in Russia. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was not chosen to host the exhibition by chance. The country, which has been a member of the WTO since 2000, demonstrates consistently high rates of economic growth - in the last two years it exceeded 6%. The political and financial system of Jordan is very stable; in addition, in the south of the country, near the port of Aqaba, a special economic zone has been operating since 2001, which allows cooperation with all countries in the region without additional taxation. This is especially important, since one of the main items on the exhibition agenda is the search for opportunities for Russian enterprises to participate in the reconstruction of the Iraqi economy.
