In Egypt, two more people fell ill with "bird flu"

In Egypt, two more cases of human infection with "bird flu" were identified. As the Minister of Health of Egypt, Khatem al-Gabali, said today, the total number of sick Egyptians reached eight, two of them died.

According to him, a variety of H5N1 virus was discovered in two sisters in the province of Kafr Esh-Sheikh. One of them is 18 years old, the second is six. Now their condition is evaluated as stable. Blood tests taken from their relatives did not confirm the presence of the disease.

In addition, al-Gabali noted that his department is closely monitoring the state of another Egyptian from the province of El Fayum, who became the sixth ill "bird flu" a resident of the country. The diagnosis was made to him last Friday. The man came on vacation from neighboring Jordan, where he worked as part. He had the first symptoms of the disease already upon returning to the kingdom. At the moment, he is in one of the Jordanian hospitals.

Over the past month, five more cases of human infection with "bird flu" have been recorded in the three provinces of Egypt. On March 18, the death of a 30-year-old Egyptian from Caliubia was officially announced. On March 27, the second death incident was recorded in the same province.

As the authorities of the country noted, all patients had direct contact with an infected bird. Thus, the first dying woman lived in one of the poorest areas of Calubia and, contrary to all the prohibitions, held birds on the roof of her house, ITAR-TASS reports.
