
The Iranian military tested the "fastest torpedo in the world" as part of the teachings of the Iranian army and navy in the Persian Gulf. This was reported today by the state Iranian television with reference to military sources.
The type and technical characteristics of the new torpedo are not specified, it is only reported that it is capable of developing speeds of up to 100 meters per second.
Last Friday, Iran began large -scale military maneuvers, in which a total of 17 thousand military personnel, several formations of various types of ships, fighter and bomber aircraft are involved.
The exercises are held 40 km from the shore in a strip that begins off the very northern point of the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf and ending near the Chakhbehar Port in the Oman Gulf, ITAR-TASS reports.
On the eve of the teachings of the Rear Admiral of the Iranian fleet, Mohammad Daekhkan emphasized that the Horde Strait of the Military Learning Theater will be the main theater of military exercises. "Iran fully controls this section of the Persian Gulf, through which about 80 percent of all the oil produced in this region passes," he said.
