United Russia withdrew its candidate for mayor of Nefteyugansk
United Russia withdrew the candidacy of Sergei Burov, deputy general director of Yuganskneftegaz, from the mayoral elections of Nefteyugansk (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug), which were scheduled for April 30.
The official reason for the recall was violations during a meeting of the political council of the district branch of the party in power. The charter of United Russia determines that a candidate for mayor must be nominated by the local branch, agreed upon with the regional branch, and only after that approved. Meanwhile, the head of the United Russia branch in the district, Alexander Sidorov, first introduced Sergei Burov’s candidacy for discussion in the regional political council and offered to support it. And only then ask city party members to approve the proposed candidate by secret ballot.
Mr. Burov’s “political payment” is also known - he became a candidate for mayor immediately after he voted for the election of Alexander Sidorov as speaker of the district duma (the Vremya Novostei newspaper wrote about this conflict). The next day after both decisions were approved, the district authorities intervened in the matter and put an end to Alexander Sidorov’s plans to become the face of the district’s legislative branch - Vasily Sondykov remained the speaker. Now it’s Sergei Burov’s turn. And if Mr. Sidorov is accused of violating regulations, then the oilman is accused of weak party work.
Thus, in the elections to the district duma held on March 12, Sergei Burov, who heads the Nefteyugansk city branch of United Russia, showed one of the lowest results in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. And he himself was unable to obtain the necessary support from the population to become a deputy of the city duma, which was elected on the same day. When the election results were summed up at a public party event and it was Sergei Burov’s turn to respond, the top manager of Yuganskneftegaz announced: “You know that we haven’t had a mayor in the city for a year. In addition, the owner of Yuganskneftegaz recently changed. Rosneft has arrived. And I think this is also a big problem.” Such an assessment of the work of the state company finally decided the fate of the mayoral candidate.
At the end of last week, the head of the interregional coordination council of United Russia for the Ural Federal District, Valery Yazev, met with Alexander Sidorov and informed him of the incompetence of the decision to nominate the oilman for mayor. The political council of the regional branch also annulled its decision regarding Sergei Burov. Now, in order to register for elections, he needs to submit signatures or pay a deposit of 300 thousand rubles. According to the election commission, the candidate chose the second option. Sergei Burov himself does not comment on the current situation.
"United Russia" was left without its own candidate for mayor and is now deciding how to solve this problem - a United Russia member should still become the head of the city. In addition to Mr. Burov, the party can choose pensioner Galina Glukhova, head of the heat power department of Yuganskneftegaz Vitaly Burchevsky, former chairman of the Nefteyugansk City Duma of the third convocation Rashid Tagirov, general director of the Nika medical and health association Alexander Kolodich, deputy head of Nefteyugansk Yuri Aladdin and director Observice company Andrey Khramov.
