The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation plan to create new police units that will ensure safety on highways. This was in an interview with Rossiy Gazeta by the First Deputy Minister of the Interior Alexander Chekalin.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs seriously work out the project to create a road police that would take up the order on the highways. Not by checks, namely the order, especially on federal routes. It is assumed that the new department will fight, among other things, with the "Kidals" on the roads that provoke false accidents for extortion. In the case of such an emergency, you will have a direct road to the house (the road department of the police), the newspaper writes.
Alexander Chekalin said that "up to 17 thousand crimes are committed on federal routes." “These are robberies, robberies, abduction of bootyrs, attacks on trucks. We know a number of facts when criminals put on the form of police officers, make a special sticker on a car. They imitate the road -patrol service, and it is almost impossible to distinguish them,” the deputy minister says.
“If those who are nearby are helped in the city: citizens, and the police, and some officials, then there is only one person on the road. In this sense, in the forest, that there is the same sensation on the highway. We know for sure that there are organized groups that specialize in crimes on the tracks. From primitive substitutions to robberies and robbery. The new service will fight them,” the Chekalin said.
Chekalin said that the new service will take care of the entire barrage system on the roads. "How successful the stationary posts have been set, how much they are able to stop any criminal plans, to block the way to criminals and terrorists," the deputy minister said.
The already conducted checks showed that "some police control points on the tracks either duplicate each other or have zero efficiency. And they do not have any importance for the law and order, to combat crime and for road safety. On the basis of 17 such points, it would be possible to create the first points of the road police," Chekalin said.
According to Chekalin, a group of 6 police officers will be able to "serve" 70-100 km of the road. He also said that "it is supposed to equip each unit with computers with all police databases."
On the roads, signs with the address and phones of the nearest road police department will be installed, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
