Ukrainian cyclists won bronze

Yesterday the World Track Cycling Championships ended in Bordeaux, France. At this prestigious tournament, where 264 athletes from 37 countries competed in fifteen types of programs, representatives of Ukraine managed to rise to the podium the only time - in the men's team pursuit. A quartet of Ukrainian riders led by Vladimir Dudey entered the top three, pushing the strong Dutch team to fourth place.

And the winners in this type of program were the world champions of 2002 and 2004 - the Australians, who took revenge on the England team for their defeat at last year's World Championships in Los Angeles. At a distance of 4000 meters, the Australians were ahead of the British by 0.034 seconds, showing a time of 4:01.491.

The Ukrainian national team beat Dynamo Moscow twice

The Ukrainian national hockey team, in preparation for the World Championship, which will be held in Riga on May 5-21, played two friendly matches in Kyiv with the former champion of Russia, the current holder of the European Champions Cup, Dynamo Moscow.

Dynamo head coach Vladimir Krikunov brought an experimental squad to Kyiv, mainly from players from the Dynamo farm club "Captain" (Moscow region). Dynamo's reserve team did not provide serious resistance to the Ukrainian national team and lost in both matches - 1:7 and 1:4.

In Group B of the top division of the World Championship, Ukraine's opponents will be the 2006 Olympic champions - the Swedes, as well as the teams of Switzerland and Italy. As usual, the Ukrainian national team will solve one problem: to stay in the top division, where it has been competing since 2002. Today, in the world rankings, Ukraine ranks 15th, one position ahead of Italy. Sweden is in first place in the ranking, Switzerland is in eighth.

Before the World Cup games, the Ukrainian national team will play several more friendly matches - against the Lada club (Togliatti, Russia) (April 19), the national teams of Belarus (April 24 and 26) and Slovakia (May 2).
