The “culprit,” a 59-year-old ex-prosecutor general, whom Turkmens are accustomed to seeing in a green general’s uniform with a flirtatious uniform cap on her head, seemed much aged even compared to how she looked a month ago, when she reported on exposing yet another crime by Turkmen oil workers. This impression was further aggravated by Atajanova's new outfit - she was wearing a national dress and a headscarf.
Kurbanbibi Atajanova asked for forgiveness from her “beloved serdar,” referring to her three daughters. But he was relentless. “If I forgive you, I will become the same criminal as you,” answered the leader. The television camera sometimes turned away from the stage and turned the lens to the hall, where it found the former subordinates of the “all-powerful Bibi,” as they usually called her, in deep shock. Their faces were waxy.
Before the audience heard the pleas of the former prosecutor general, they were told what they had guessed, but were “afraid to ask.” At first, the “great serdar” himself spoke “with bitterness” about Atajanova’s “atrocities.” Turkmenbashi spoke about how she, while in a high position, “using the right of permissiveness, which led to genuine lawlessness,” established “the practice of bribery and bribery, trampling the principles of justice and humanism.” It turned out that the vigilant leader “has already doubted her honesty for six months, largely thanks to letters addressed to him with complaints from ordinary citizens.”
Turkmenbashi described in detail the “unsightly picture” of the activities of the criminal former prosecutor general, which was suddenly revealed to him. But at one time she was already “convicted of immodesty when her huge luxurious house, beyond her income, was demolished.” But the serdar painfully admitted that Atajanova “not only did not keep her promise not to allow anything like this in the future, but also surpassed herself in her vanity and self-interest, acquiring not only a real palace, but also an unimaginable number of apartments.” Turkmenbashi told prosecutors what not only they, but almost the entire country knew: how Atajanova “used her adopted son, a drug dealer, to cover up her crimes,” how she “went wild, bringing even innocent people to justice.”
Here, by the way, you can take a little break from retelling the picture of “the baseness of Atajanova’s fall” that revealed itself to the “father of the nation” and remember that it was she who uncovered conspiracies against Turkmenbashi among almost all of his closest associates, ministers and vice-premiers, generals and company executives. Most of them, after trials for which there are no witnesses, were hidden either for life or for decades in prison, where no one has seen them since then - neither relatives, nor lawyers, nor international observers...
Obviously, now that Turkmenbashi is confident that threats to his throne of the “diamond crown of the Turkmen people” from his inner circle have been uprooted by the hands of Atajanova, she herself, the knowledgeable chef of Niyazov’s political cuisine, can be sacrificed. You can’t tell the whole people why he himself, the all-powerful ruler, did not dare to approximately punish his general “punishing hand” of justice for so long. However, almost any student in Ashgabat will tell the reason for this - Atajanova almost openly boasted that she had such devastating compromising evidence on Niyazov himself, hidden in safe places, that he would not dare to encroach on her...
Everything that her former deputy, who inherited her chair, then said about Atajanova’s atrocities and thefts, is no longer so interesting. Well, who would be surprised today by the enumeration of treasures discovered in the possession of a defeated high-ranking Turkmen official? Just think, more than six million dollars in cash, 36 residential buildings, 25 foreign cars, several bulldozers and truck cranes, a brick factory, a rice mill, tens of hectares of land, thousands of heads of cattle and small cattle...
