The president of the National Italian Football League Franco Carraro, who worked at his post for more than five years, resigned. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Italian television.

According to Carraro, his resignation will allow the Federation to focus on solving serious problems that have accumulated in Italian football recently. According to Carraro, he is leaving so that FFI officials can discuss any issues completely freely and make decisions exclusively in the interests of football.

The 66-year-old specialist after the Congress elections in Cyprus in 2004 is a member of the UEFA Executive Committee. Over the past two years, he served as a special adviser to the executive committee, lit up during this time in many different committees and working groups. The main activity of Carraro in FIFA was associated with the organization of the final stage of the World Cup in Germany, informs UEFA.com.

According to another version, Carraro made this decision in connection with a scandal erupted in Italy, caused by listening to telephone conversations of some higher football managers of various clubs.
