Interpol maintained Russian criminal authority in the UAE, wanted by Spain and Georgia

Interpol announced on Tuesday about the detention of one of the leaders of the Russian criminal groups of Zakhar Kalashov in Dubai, looking for the Spanish police.

Representatives of Spanish law enforcement agencies who previously issued an international order to arrest him were distributed about this in Madrid.

According to the Spanish police, the sources of the EFE agency refer to, the native of Tbilisi Zakhar Kalashov was detained in Dubai at a gathering, in which other representatives of Russian criminal circles participated.

As it became known, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia a few months ago opened a criminal case against Zakhar (Shakro) Kalashov, detained by Interpol on Tuesday in the UAE, and in case of his extradition in Tbilisi, he will serve prison as a “thief in law”.

At the beginning of this year, the Georgian parliament adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, according to which all Georgian “thieves in law” must serve prison.

The day before, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vano Merabishvili told reporters that recently, within 15 minutes, he spoke with his Russian counterpart Rashid Nurgaliev about Kalashov.

As the head of the National Bureau of Interpol in Georgia, Lasha Giorgadze, said on Tuesday, Spanish colleagues in a telephone conversation confirmed him the fact of detention.

The Spanish media report that Kalashov left Spain in 2005, when a large -scale operation was carried out in the country against Russian organized crime involved in laundering money and creating criminal communities on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, Interfax reports.

During the operation, several dozen representatives of Russian criminal groups were arrested. Then at least 80 bank accounts were arrested, as well as a large number of cars and villas in their ownership.

A few weeks ago, Georgian television channels showed Kalashev’s house in the summer village of Tskhneti, in the vicinity of Tbilisi, estimated at $ 30 million. There are 36 sleeping rooms in this house, it was said in television.

The frames of the marble mausoleum at one of the cemeteries in Tbilisi were also shown, in which, apparently, the Georgian “thief in law” Z. Kalashov intended to retreat to eternal peace.
