Benedict XVI will visit Auschwitz

The head of the Catholic Archbishop of the Mother of God in Moscow, Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusevich , called the Pope Benedict XVI to Poland, where the pontiff, in particular, will visit the former Auschwitzi, outlined on May 25.

“It is very important and symbolic that the dad will visit Auschwitz. It will be a big step for uniting peoples. After the war, many wounds are healed, but some pain remains,” the archbishop said today in an interview with the Interfax correspondent.

Speaking about the upcoming visit by the head of the Vatican to Poland, he noted that the current pontiff "as if followed by the trail of Pope Voitla."

T. Kondrusevich will lead a group of Russian Catholics, who are going to Warsaw today to participate in joint prayer with Pope. Believers will also visit Chenstokhov, Krakow and Vadovica - the birthplace of the late Pope John Paul II . His successor Benedict XVI will visit here.

The pilgrimage of Moscow Catholics in Poland will last until May 31.
