Back in March, Iran accepted the proposal of Iraq to conduct direct negotiations on the Iraqi problem, initiated by the head of the Higher Council of the Islamic Revolution of Iraq (Vsiri) Abdel Aziz al-Khakim. The United States has repeatedly made sharp statements against Tehran, accusing him of interfering in the internal affairs of Iraq, in particular, expanding its influence among Iraqi Shiites, supplies of explosive devices to local militants and supporting terrorists.

For its part, the Islamic Republic considers the Western intelligence services involved in the organization of terrorist attacks in the South Iranian province of Huzestan, where Arabs live and separatist sentiments are present. The proposal of al-Khakim was aimed largely that Washington and Tehran were able to solve all the disagreements available between them during direct consultations.
