The route for the construction of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil pipeline through the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was agreed upon on May 29 in its capital, Yakutsk, ITAR-TASS reports.

The presentation of the final version of the pipeline was attended by the heads of the executive and legislative authorities of the northern republic and the heads of municipalities where the 1,360-kilometer pipeline route will pass.

The speakers were representatives of Transneft contracting organizations - the All-Russian Research Institute for the Construction and Operation of Pipelines and Fuel and Energy Complex Facilities and the Design Institute for Reconstruction and Construction of Oil and Gas Facilities. In their opinion, the chosen route, even if extended by 370 km, has a number of advantages compared to other options. It passes through relatively calm, hilly terrain, has the fewest watercourse crossings and the only crossing of the Lena River. The seismicity of the territory through which the pipeline will pass is no more than 6 points on a 12-point scale, and there are no landslides along the entire length.

Earlier, the presentation of the new route of the Eastern Oil Pipeline took place in the Irkutsk and Amur regions. Construction on the first site is already underway, and on the second site it will begin in June.
