The new CIA director Michael Hayden took the oath, entering this post in the presence of US President George Bush.

The candidacy of the 61-year-old general for the Air Force last week was approved by a majority vote.

This appointment, made on the initiative of President Bush, caused a polemic in the country, since in 1999-2005 the Air Force General headed the most classified American intelligence service - the National Security Agency, which carried out a program for listening to the telephone conversations of the Americans in the framework of the fight against the threat of terrorism.
