The Parliament of Crimea declared the territory of the peninsula free from NATO

The Parliament of Crimea on Tuesday decided to declare the peninsula "without NATO", Interfax reports. 61 out of 78 deputies who took part in the vote voted for this decision, 4 - abstained, against - 0, did not participate in the vote - 13.

The statement of deputies states that the actions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the admission of the United States Armed Forces, carried out in violation of Articles 85, 92 of the Constitution of Ukraine, as well as Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Procedure for the Address and Conditions of the Armed Forces of other states in Ukraine", caused numerous and multi -day protests in Crimea. Participants in these shares protest against the autonomy of the SEA Breeze exercises - 2006.

"The actions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine posing a threat to the basics of the constitutional system of Ukraine and the principles of its non -block status, enshrined in the act of proclaiming the independence of Ukraine, the personal security of its citizens," the statement says. According to its authors, "the escalation of a foreign military presence on the territory of autonomy will entail a further aggravation of the socio-political situation in autonomy and in the country."

In this regard, the Supreme Council of Crimea protested "against the illegal presence of the units of the US and NATO Armed Forces on the territory of autonomy" and demanded to cancel the conduct of the Sea Breeze exercises - 2006 in the territory of autonomy.

The deputies also demanded that the Verkhovna Rada “illegal admission to the territory of the Crimean Peninsula of the United States, instructors, inspectors and other NATO representatives, and the import of engineering and technical and military property, including weapons”, and weapons, are terminated.

In addition, the Supreme Council of Crimea drew the attention of the President of Ukraine to the fact that the regular representative of the head of state in autonomy Gennady Moskal "did not fulfill the functions assigned to him by law."

According to deputies, he "did not ensure the timely and objective analysis of compliance with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, the development of political processes in autonomy and reliable informing the President of Ukraine about the current situation, which contributed to the exacerbation of the socio-political situation in the region and beyond."

In this regard, Crimean deputies consider Muscovites to stay in the position of permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea.

The Crimean parliament also appealed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to consider the issue of prohibiting the admission of units of the armed forces of other states for the military exercises of the Sea Breeze - 2006 in Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko believes that the decision of the Supreme Council of Crimea on the declaration of the peninsula "territory without NATO" is politicized, and will not affect the relations of Ukraine with the alliance. "This is a political decision, another political speculation that does not make any essence and changes in the principles and provisions that regulate the relations of Ukraine with NATO," Yushchenko said on Tuesday at a press conference in Kyiv.

On May 28, the United States ship came to the port of Feodosia, from which engineering equipment and building materials were unloaded, designed to improve the training base of the Staroklimsky training ground of the Ukrainian Naval Forces. Later, about 250 US military arrived on the peninsula. In Crimea, mass protests began. The port of Feodosia was blocked by manifestants, and the US military was everywhere surrounded by crowds of protesting citizens.
