A group of researchers under the leadership of Catherine Hanni from the French Center for Molecular and Cellular Genetics ( Center de Genetique Moleculaire et Celulaire ) analyzed the oldest well-known science of the Neanderthal genetic material-DNA from the tooth of the 10-12-year-old child, the remains of which were found in Belgian cave. The remains are about 100 thousand years old. Genetics compared 123 pairs of bases of the mitochondrial DNA of a young Neanderthal with the previously obtained sequences of DNA of Neanderthals who lived from 29 thousand to 42 thousand years ago. The study showed that the genetic diversity of the early Neanderthals was greater than those who lived later.
