Kremlin against scientists

The authorities have launched a real attack on the Academy of Sciences: the government is developing a project to transform the RAS into a public organization, depriving the RAS of the right to manage property and finances. The Academy believes that the culprit is the lands and real estate of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which the Kremlin has coveted. In fact, if the project is accepted, the RAS will be deprived of all functions for organizing scientific activities and will be deprived of the right to manage government funds. The Academy will become such a club of interests and will only be able to hand out scientific titles.
