Researchers of Princeton University by the scientific method have proved the justice of the well -known statement that money in itself cannot give a person more happiness or significantly improve their mood. Sociologists claim that they managed to calculate how much time different people spend in a good mood, and how much in bad. Based on the data obtained, they came to the conclusion that people with a large income are not much happier than wealthy. In addition, the rich has less free time, but they spend it more actively.
A study conducted in 2004 showed that higher income does not guarantee its recipients more good mood, reports Washington Profile .
As a result of a survey conducted in the United States among women, it was revealed that respondents with earnings of less than 20 thousand dollars per year spend only 12% more time per day than respondents with an income of more than 100 thousand dollars. This indicator, according to researchers, was supposed to amount to 32%.
It turns out that more wealthy people have less time for entertainment. Using the data of the American Labor Statistics Bureau, the researchers have found that people with higher income usually spend more time on work, purchases, care for children and other obligatory classes.
In addition, people with a higher income level, spend less time on "passive" types of recreation, such as parties or watching TV. Men who earn more than 100 thousand dollars a year spend only 19.9% of their time on a "passive" rest. Men with an income of less than 20 thousand dollars a year passively resting about 34.7% of their time. For women, a similar indicator amounted to 19.6% and 33.5%, respectively.
