Countries have reacted to this in different ways. "Saving Corporal Shalit" is not even the number one topic in the news. This is the reason for the military operation. I would like to emphasize that this is not a reason, but a reason. Things were going great for Israel in Palestine: Hamas and Fatah clashed with each other - and Israel could only drink coffee. An Israeli attack is disadvantageous to Israel. But Ehud Olmert simply had no choice if he wanted to remain prime minister. This is an axiom: if an Israeli is taken hostage, no one will make concessions to the terrorists, but everything will be done to free him, including negotiations with possible mediators: Egypt and Russia (here we play the unenviable role of enemies who know Khaled Mashaal). The capture of Corporal Shalit is the subject of Olmert's statements, and the highest Israeli officials visit his parents.

Not that Russia. The capture of four diplomats in Iraq never made front-page news while they were alive. President Putin was silent. The demand to stop the war in Chechnya caused some indistinct gurgling among officials: either they said that we had not officially received such a demand (and how should terrorists officially transmit demands - through their ambassadors, or what?), then they hinted that this American provocation.

The execution of the hostages also did not become front-page news. It was mainly used to scold the United States. Vice-speaker Sliska was particularly distinguished when she said that "The burden of responsibility for the execution of Russian diplomats ... lies with those who occupied Iraq." In my opinion, this is the first case in the history of diplomacy when an official, speaking about the killed hostages, uses the terminology of terrorists. Why shouldn't Ms. Sliska say that children were executed in Beslan?

And only when, a few days after the assassination of the diplomats, President Putin demanded “punishment”, did everyone suddenly see the light. And Patrushev promised 10 million dollars for the heads of the terrorists. And the Volgograd United Russia even took the initiative: they say, let us, the business, collect this money ourselves! And we will create our fund, local, Volgograd. And we will ask him to head, of course, the head of the FSB for the Volgograd region, Sergei Kokorin.

They, Volgograd, know better. They have now cleared the mayor, and his friends are being dragged to the prosecutor's office - it's not just that you will finance anti-terrorism, in such conditions you can dance the can-can. After all, what is the most remarkable thing in anti-terrorist activity? That it's secret.

And he, of course, will give, who will refuse the prosecutor's office, but then he can ask, at least theoretically, what kind of orphans are eating black caviar behind the high fence of the new three-story prosecutor's house? And here you can't even ask. "Where's the money?" - "Gostain!"

One question: is it impossible to fight terrorism somehow closer? Iraq is far away, but the Caucasus is close. Why not fight Basayev? Or Umarov?

Beslan is the most heinous act of terrorism Russia has ever faced. And now the authorities themselves have declared that one of the main terrorists of Beslan is alive and at large. Will the president say something about it? Will he order to find out when the authorities were wrong - when they said that Magas was dead, or when they called him the organizer of the murder of the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia?

There is a simple difference between a competent boss and an incompetent one. A competent boss solves the problem. Incompetent - Uses an unsolved problem for personal gain. To find the culprit. Showdown with enemies. And, of course, to raise money to solve the problem.
