It is difficult to build the entire structure of power on the reports that Khodorkovsky wanted to take the place of the president, and Nevzlin wants to kill him, and not demand the extradition of Nevzlin. That Nevzlin will not be extradited, I also have no doubt. Our justice is not competitive in the West.

So it's not an interesting question. The most interesting question: why exactly Mr. Nudelman?

The first book by Mr. Nudelman, a doctor who left for Israel but did not work in his specialty, was about Israeli doctors - killers in white coats. It is difficult to say whether Mr. Nudelman dreamed of revenge, describing the horrors, but there was no revenge, no scandal - nothing at all. Apparently, this is how the book was written. After that, Mr. Nudelman tried to pursue a political career - with politics it turned out the same as with medical work, and Mr. Nudelman wrote a book about a more successful politician from the "Russian street" - about Natan Sharansky. This time, the book was noticed - the court awarded Nudelman to pay a record amount for libel - a million shekels. One cannot suspect Mr. Nudelman that he wrote the book about Sharansky as an FSB agent. Not at all. Whatever he wanted, he wrote. He wrote, for example, that Sharansky was not in the camp at all.

Strange people are everywhere. In Russia, for example, there is a group of fans of Shamil Basayev. They even have a website. And Iranian television can, in principle, film these women and explain that there are people in Russia who honor Basayev. But, apart from Iranian television, these ladies are of interest only to a psychiatrist. Considering that the State of Israel is currently waging war against Hamas (which Russia invites to talks) and Hezbollah (which is bombarding the north of Israel with Soviet-made rockets), I am not sure that the volunteer assistants of the Russian prosecutor's office will find more understanding in Israel, than in Russia - admirers of Basayev.

But still, was it really impossible to find another voluntary assistant, except for the author of the book "Scharansky Without a Mask"?

Alas, this choice of allies is not the exception, but the rule. Here is another example - the former head of the KGB of Georgia, Igor Giorgadze. Giorgadze, God forbid, not Nudelman. He is an extremely interesting and brave man. The man Shevardnadze borrowed from Russia as a counterweight to Kitovani and Ioseliani. This was followed by several assassination attempts on Shevardnadze's closest friends. Shevardnadze decided that Giorgadze was behind them and hurried to adopt a constitution that would secure the head of the country by making it impossible for the head of the KGB to come to power. On the day the Constitution was signed, Shevardnadze was blown up.

The conspirators were members of the Mkhedrioni, dissatisfied with Ioseliani, but acted on the orders of Giorgadze. The idea was to blow up the president, blame everything on Ioseliani, eliminate him and take power. They were ruined by the extreme complexity of the intrigue: the killer was told that he was blowing up Ioseliani. Imagine the performer's surprise when he saw Shevardnadze's car leaving the palace. "But it's the President!" he cried. "Press!" shouted Giga Gelashvili, who was sitting next to him, the commander of the Georgian Alpha, who was later arrested and testified, and, leaning over, pressed the button himself. But it was too late - Shevardnadze survived, Giorgadze fled to the Russian military base in Vaziani and was like that.

I doubt that Giorgadze's directives were given in Moscow, at that time Moscow could not find pants with both hands, not to mention chipping off such things. As already mentioned, Giorgadze is a brave and imaginative person. Like, say, Ramon Mercader. But it's hard to elect Ramon Mercader as president of Mexico.

Or another example - demonstrations in America against "Chechen terrorists", for which, as it turns out from the Wall Street Journal investigation, Nashi hired homeless people. The demonstrations were carefully filmed by our television and shown as a sign that ordinary American workers condemned their government's defeatist policy towards world terrorism.

In the 70s, this was the favorite operation of the KGB. They found a character with deviant behavior, or he was himself. Then the local Morning Star wrote an article: "Dr. Hyder is starving in front of the Capitol - American imperialism will soon fall." And only then they reported to the center: here, foreign media write: Dr. Haider is starving. Therefore, the regime will soon fall. So the KGB turned from a tool for collecting information about abroad into a tool for misinforming the authorities. The authorities did not want to hear anything, except that Dr. Haider was starving and imperialism would soon fall.

Fall, as you know, is not imperialism.

In some ways, it may seem that Nudelman, Giorgadze or Mrs. Kelly Bradley, who is being treated for heroin addiction, but rallying in Queens for $ 15, is still the same Dr. Hyder. But in fact, the meaning of the event has fundamentally changed. Grandmas on Dr. Hyder did not saw. The essence of the current regime is the monetization of absolutely all state functions, including the function of hanging pasta on the ears of the authorities.
