
The Moldova Prosecutor General’s Office received materials from Russian colleagues in the case of the murder of NTV journalist Ilya Zimin and extended the arrest of the citizen of Moldova, Igor Velchev, suspected of a crime for another 30 days, ITAR-TASS reports.
The previously appointed period of detention of Velchev in custody expired on Wednesday, August 2.
According to the agency, in accordance with the CIS Convention of 1993, criminal prosecution on the fact of the crime is carried out in the country of residence of the suspect, so Velchev will not be extradited to Russia.
