With the inter -religious council of Russia, they propose to create a structure to combat misinformation in the media

Russian representatives of traditional religions announced the need to consolidate efforts in the field of information security in the coverage of religious issues in the media, Interfax reports.

“The information is a powerful tool of both protection and defeat,” the priest Vladimir Vigilyansky, head of the press service of the Moscow Patriarchate, said at a press conference in Moscow today.

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (MPC MP), Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, advocated the unification of the efforts of religious figures, journalists and lawyers, "so that they authoritatively make their judgments on issues related to the presence of religious organizations in the media."

“In this situation, it is necessary that with the inter -religious council of Russia, which has a quiet, but very audible voice, there is a kind of human rights structure where you could turn,” said Rabbi Zinovy ​​Kogan, chairman of the Congress of Jewish religious organizations and associations of Russia (Keror), at a press conference.

In his opinion, any of the organizations at the Russian Orthodox Church could play such a role.

The Executive Director of the International Islamic Mission Shafig Pshikhachev called the work of both the inter -religious council of Russia and the Inter -religious Council of the CIS and supported the idea of ​​accepting a certain program at the level of MSR or an agreement on information security issues.
