
A device for the delivery of drugs within the human body was developed by a group of researchers under the leadership of Dr. Claus-Dieter Ohl from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, the New Scientist reports . The microcorobot is a pipe several millimeters long and about 750 microns with a bubble of air, stolen from one end. It moves reactively, sucking and throwing a stream of liquid, like a sea mollusk, a scallop. The maximum speed of the "scallop" is 3 millimeters per second. The device is controlled by sound waves. The movement of the "scallop" is carried out using a speaker, which is attached to a particular part of the patient's body.
The development of Dutch scientists interested researchers from the National University of Singapore, headed by Dr. Khoo Boo Cheong. Singaporers are going to continue the research of their colleagues from the Netherlands, reducing the size and increasing the speed of movement of the rake robot.
