On the eve of August 22, when Tehran promises to give an official response to the proposals of the Six countries according to their nuclear program, Iran’s first persons continue to prepare the ground for their solution.
On Monday, the spiritual leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Tehran intends to continue working in the field of implementation of the Iranian nuclear program. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has made its choice,” Hamens quoted ITAR -TASS. “The country will continue its way to develop nuclear energy, and these efforts will bring tangible results.”
At the same time, Khamenei accused the United States "of pressure on Iran, despite Tehran's repeated statements" that his nuclear program was pursuing exceptionally peaceful goals, ITAR-TASS reports. In mid -August, the president of Iran made a similar statement.
Meanwhile, the AP agency, citing diplomats and officials of the UN, reports that Iran did not allow UN inspectors to an underground nuclear facility in Natanze. They emphasized that such steps of Tehran can seriously complicate the international efforts aimed at guaranteeing Iran’s actual refusal to develop nuclear weapons. Gas centrifuges are installed at the facility in Natanze to enrich uranium.
Meanwhile, the deputy head of the Iranian atomic energy organization (UAEI), Mohammad Saidi, said today that Tehran is on the threshold of mastering the technology of heavy water production. According to him, the company for its development in the very near future will be commissioned. Thus, he noted, Iran will become the ninth country of the world, which has mastered such production.
Saidi, one of the main Iranian negotiators on a nuclear problem, believes that in the current conditions for Iran it will unacceptably agree with the requirement of a moratorium on enrichment of a uranium. The deputy head of the UAEI said that the response expected from Iran to the package of Six proposals will be given on Tuesday.
“This will be a comprehensive answer that will provide the West with wide opportunities for solving the Iranian nuclear problem through negotiations,” Saidi emphasized. He also said that in the near future the head of the UAEI Golyam Reza Agazade intends to visit Moscow to discuss the start schedule of the Bushersky NPP, which, according to Saidi, is "at the moment ready by 93%."
In turn, the Foreign Minister Iran Manechekhr Motaki, said on Monday in South Africa that Tehran completed the consideration of a proposal to resolve the dispute around his atomic program and hopes for achieving a comprehensive agreement.
"We hope for cooperation and negotiations based on the recognition of Iran’s right to possess nuclear technology," the minister said. According to Mottaki, Iran “welcomes the“ five plus one ”group and advocates that the nuclear problem is transferred from consideration in the UN Security Council in the IAEA.
The United States is still determined to resolve Iran’s nuclear problem diplomatic means, US President George Bush said at a press conference in Washington today. “Of course, I want to solve this problem with a diplomatic way,” he said. “And I am glad that (at the UN Security Council - approx. Ed.) The corresponding resolution was adopted.”
“We begin to receive some signals (from Tehran), but we will wait for their official answer,” Bush noted about this. According to the head of the American administration, in his contacts with foreign partners, he will continue to remind them of "the danger that Iran possessing nuclear weapons can be represented."
Iran promised until August 22 to answer the proposals of five regular members of the UN and Germany Security Council on overcoming the crisis around the Iranian atomic program. In June, the “six” intermediaries to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem, as part of the five regular members of the UN and Germany Security Council, made Iran an offer that provides for the possibility of peacefully using Tehran of nuclear energy in exchange for the controlled cessation of work to enrich uranium and other actions that can lead to Iranian nuclear weapons.
The UN Security Council on July 31 adopted a resolution , which contains a demand for Iran to stop all Uranus enrichment until the end of August. In case of Tehran’s non -compliance with the provisions of the resolution, the document says, the Security Council will take appropriate measures in accordance with Chapter 7 of the UN Charter in order to convince Iran to comply with the resolution and requirements of the Magate. This position contains a direct hint of the possibility of imposing sanctions.
