
According to preliminary data, the Tu-154 catastrophe of Pulkovo Airlines occurred due to a lightning strike, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
"The plane hit the Thunderstorm Front, lightning struck it. Tu-154 fell from a height of 10-11 thousand meters," the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies said.
Today at 15.39, having given the SOS signal, the Tu-154 Pulkovo Airlines, which was flying 612 Anapa-St. Petersburg, disappeared from the radar. The wreckage of the aircraft was found 45 kilometers north of Donetsk between the villages of Sukhaya Balka and Novgorod. On board were 160 passengers and 11 crew members. According to the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine, as well as one of the deputy general director of the Donetsk Airport, no one is left alive.
