Yesterday, New York Democratic Senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton won the state's Democratic primary. She received 83.2% of the vote, her opponent Jonathan Tussin received only 16.8%. Mrs. Clinton explained this gap “by the results of her work in the Senate for five and a half years.” The next election battle awaits Hillary on November 7: in the midterm elections to the US Congress, she will have to fight with the Republican candidate, former mayor of Yonkers John Spencer. But even here Mrs. Clinton is predicted to have an easy victory. Democrats are expected to gain a majority in both houses of Congress in the midterm elections. To wrest control of it from Republicans, Democrats need six additional seats in the Senate and 15 in the House of Representatives. Hillary Clinton may also become one of the likely candidates for the 2008 presidential election.
