Festival "Long Arms". The festival is dedicated to the memory of the popularizer of “new music” and the ideologist of the “Dom” center Nikolai Dmitriev. The festival will present various styles of contemporary music: from avant-garde jazz to noise electronics. It will be attended by musicians from around the world who are connected by the name of Nikolai Dmitriev and his activities for decades. Some of the musicians had already been to Russia thanks to Dmitriev, he wanted to invite others, but, unfortunately, did not have time. Today, at the opening of the festival, two projects will be presented. The festival will be opened by Pamela Z , a composer and audio artist from San Francisco who works with voice and electronics. The second part will feature David Cossin and Real Quiet - a New York trio of the young percussionist Cossin, member of the band Ban On A Can, consisting of David Cossin (percussion), Felix Fan (cello) and Andrew Russo (piano). Media operas. Project by composer Iraida Yusupova , poet D.A. Prigov , as well as cameraman and director Alexander Dolgin . Media opera is a new direction in video art, in which music prevails over the video sequence and imposes its dramaturgy on it, thus coming to the fore. The following media operas will be shown: “Russia”, “The Last Secret of Theremin”, Exegi monumentum (fragment), “Sisyphus”, “Egypt”, “Body and Mind”. CONCERTS
To the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Shostakovich. The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia , conductor Vladimir Spivakov , the choir of the Academy of Choral Arts under the direction of Viktor Popov and soloist Sergei Aleksashkin (bass) will perform the overture to the opera “Tannhäuser” by Wagner, the Symphony of Psalms by Stravinsky and the poem “The Execution of Stepan Razin” by Shostakovich. The author's alter ego, Beat Takeshi, a Japanese television star, dates a convenience store cashier, a failed actor named Kitano.
