In the USA, a man was released, who served 21 years on false accusations of rape. His innocence was proved by the DNA test, and Judge Procullah Hall needed only one day to endure the verdict and release Scott Fappiano to freedom.

The Fappiano, who is now 44 years old, was in prison on charges of raping the wife of a police officer, perfect in 1983.

Mother Fappiano Rose hardly controlled herself: "My son was stolen 21 years ago ... Now I am glad to meet him at home." Scott's lawyer called this day a "bitter holiday." Fappiano himself did not give comments.

In 1983, the unknown one broke into one of Brooklyn's houses and found the police officer and his wife sleeping there. He tied the man, and raped a woman. The Fappiano on suspicion of committing this crime was detained in 1984. His defense states that Scott was sentenced even despite the fact that the blood samples found at the crime scene were different from him, cigarettes and fragments of clothing also did not coincide.

The basis for the prosecution was the testimony of the victim, which “identified” the fappiano, although it was 20 cm lower than in its first testimonies taken before the confrontation. At the same time, her husband did not recognize the Fappiano at a full -time bet.

The first court justified the Fappiano: 11 out of 12 jury voted for his innocence. However, a second hearing took place a year later, and he was sentenced to prison for a period of 20 to 50 years.

The revision of such sentences is the merit of the "Nevocence Project" project, within the framework of which repeated DNA tests are held. The test results were presented to the court, confirmed that the Fappiano DNA does not coincide with the DNA of samples taken at the crime scene.

To date, within the framework of the “Innocation Project” in the United States, 183 sentences have been revised.

The big public resonance was dealing with Thomas Doswell , who spent 19 years behind bars - also on charges of rape. Doswell was found by the court guilty of rape, committed in 1986 in the hospital of Pittsburgh and received 26 years. At that time he had two young children. During the analysis of the case, everything indicated that the man really committed a crime. However, recently conducted repeated DNA tests have proved that sperm samples taken from the victim’s body do not belong to him.

19 years ago, the victim and witness indicated the photo of Doswell, choosing it from a group of 8 photographs that the police presented to them. At that time, the Pitsburg police marked photos of people accused of rape R (Rapist - rapist). Doswell claimed that he was identified only because of this letter R in his photographs. Project Innocence, raising his business, indicated that his photo was the only one on which the letter R.

During his stay in prison, Doswell received a degree, although low, learned to speak Spanish and took possession of the game of seven musical instruments.
