
Iraqi military conduct a large -scale operation in the city of Kirkuk in the north of Iraq.
The purpose of the operation entitled "Key to Security", which is carried out by the 14,000th contingent of Iraqi soldiers and police officers with the information and transport support of American troops, is the search and destruction of militants, reports the Catar satellite television channel Al-Jazeera.
During the operation in Kirkuk, a commandant hour was introduced. In addition, a 15-kilometer moat was dug on the southern outskirts of the city in order to prevent the penetration of armed people and mined cars into the city, RIA Novosti reports.
