The Cossacks have long been concerned about the fate of the great-nephew of the Don ataman during the Civil War, Pyotr Krasnov. Miguel Krasnov ended up in Chile almost as a baby with his mother, who barely escaped Stalin’s camps. His father Semyon Krasnov fought against the Bolsheviks in the ranks of the Cossack army under the command of his uncle, General Pyotr Krasnov. After the revolution, the Krasnov family moved to Germany, and during the Second World War, both Krasnovs fought on the side of the Germans. After the end of the war, they were extradited to the USSR and hanged in Lefortovo prison on January 16, 1947. The mother of the future brigadier general of the Chilean army, Dina Marchenko, miraculously managed to avoid extradition, and in 1947 she and her one-year-old son ended up in Latin America. In 1967, Miguel Krasnov graduated from military school and became an officer in the Chilean army. And on September 11, 1973, he participated in the overthrow of the Allende government and after that was a member of the National Intelligence Service of Chile. In 2002, the court found him guilty of crimes against humanity, among others, he was found guilty of the murder in 1982 of one of the leaders of the trade union movement in Chile, Tucapel Jimenez. However, the Cossacks consider General Miguel Krasnov a victim of a political game and insist that he, as a military man, simply could not evade the orders of the country's supreme leader, Augusto Pinochet. According to Interfax, they are already taking concrete measures to achieve the release of the Chilean “Cossack”. Ataman of the All-Great Don Army Viktor Vodolatsky sent VVD foreman Vladimir Varshavsky to Santiago, who had already hired the best lawyer to handle this case. “The Cossacks do not abandon their own, no matter where they are,” said the official representative of the Cossack army, Vladimir Voronin.
