| In Medvedkovo you can buy good books for little money Unlike the 90s, a book boom can now be considered in Russia. There are more and more bookstores, books are in the public domain, the choice is huge - there are books for every taste: different in quality, in orientation towards the reader, in price. This seems to be good. However, as it turned out, there are also problems: the reader simply does not have the opportunity to keep track of everything that comes out. Very few media outlets track the emergence of interesting new products, and very little space is devoted to them. Bright advertising slogans found in the subway and on trolleybuses mainly promote either already famous, “promoted” authors, or books on fashionable topics (for example, about the lives of oligarchs, wives, children and household members, etc.). The bulk of new book releases pass by the potential reader. You can find something in stores only if you know exactly what you are looking for. To explore the entire assortment, and not just those shelves that are at eye level or counters where the most popular goods are laid out, requires a lot of time, as well as general preparation, which allows you to choose from a huge variety exactly what is interesting and necessary. In addition, this activity, in addition to erudition, requires attention and silence, and not the struggle for a place at the rack among a noisy, constantly moving crowd. As practice shows, there are not so many true book lovers who are ready to overcome all these unfavorable factors when visiting a store. Mostly, people go to the store just to buy an interesting book and limit themselves to quickly choosing something that is well-known. And many less popular, but no less worthy books, barely having time to come out, soon find themselves crowded out of bookstore shelves by other new products, and as a result pass by the reader. It turns out not a useful replacement at all.
Both book publishers and booksellers, observing such a sad situation, decided to try to at least partially change the situation. And throughout November, the “Month of Successful Purchase” campaign will be held at the Medvedkovo Book House. The store has dedicated a separate room where you can buy books published in recent years by several leading Russian publishing houses (Azbuka, Vremya, Ripol Classic). Books are sold at a 50-70 percent discount, but this promotion should not be confused with “everything for five rubles” sales - unlike them, only worthy books are presented here, carefully selected by publishers, recommended by experts, and received excellent reviews. Among them are classical, modern and children's literature, famous series (“ABC Classics”, “My 20th Century”, “ZhZL” “Booker Prize: Selections”), memoirs, encyclopedias, etc. Now readers have a real chance to stop, look back, find and acquire what they missed.
