Sergey Matvienko, the son of the governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, received a residence permit in Estonia.
The Department of Citizenship and Migration of the country refused to clarify when and what kind of residence was issued by Matvienko, referring to the fact that we are talking about personal data. The spokesman for the Department of Merika Yurilo said: "The permission to accommodate is really obtained, but based on the law on the protection of personal data, we have no right to report on what time and under what conditions a residence permit is granted."
Probably, a temporary residence permit was issued by Matvienko due to the fact that he is a member of the Council of the enterprise registered in Estonia, Delfi reports citing Eesti Paevaleht .
In 2005, Matvienko, in cooperation with the director of St. Petersburg Bank Alexander Savelyev, closely connected with St. Petersburg ruling circles, founded the SMB Invest joint-stock company in Estonia.
In addition, in June 2006, Sergei Matvienko bought an island in Estonia. He acquired it along with Evgeny Bolshakov (representative of Lukoil in Estonia) and Alexander Savelyev (large St. Petersburg banker).
Sergei Matvienko even prudently submitted documents to draw up a residence permit that guarantees not only entry into Estonia, but also a flight. The latter is important, because one of the "highlights" of the "Russian Island" is the opening of a constant helicopter message between Tallinn and St. Petersburg.
Alexander Savelyev, one of the participants in the purchase of the island, said that "investments were approximately $ 5-10 million."
