The seagull will lead the fight against corruption

Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika proposes to provide his department with broad powers in the fight against corruption. As Vedomosti writes on Thursday, he stated this at a meeting of the State Duma.

According to the seagulls, the Prosecutor General will take into account coordination and supervision of the implementation of state policy in the field of counteracting corruption. According to the Prosecutor General, the corresponding department in his department has already been created.

Vedomosti recalls that so far the only state body that has been involved in this problem throughout the country was the Council for Combating Corruption, created on November 24, 2003. The Council was headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.

The first and only meeting of the Council took place on January 12, 2004, and soon Kasyanov was dismissed. As a source surrounded by Kasyanov told the publication, the ex-Prime Minister still considers himself the head of the Council for Combating Corruption, since there were no messages from the Kremlin about the permutations in the leadership of the Council.
