Disinfectants are the main source of alcohol poisoning
Yesterday, the Volgograd branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Rosspirtprom" launched the production of so- called "folk vodka" ; 53 rub. for half a liter. Meanwhile, the number of people poisoned by alcohol substitutes in the region in a calendar month is approaching half a thousand people.The office of the head of the administration of the Volgograd region received new data from the health committee about residents of the region affected by alcohol-containing surrogates. According to doctors, from October 18 to November 18 alone, more than 470 people in the region have already suffered from poisoning with leftover vodka and various “external agents.” For 12 people, the use of these drugs resulted in death. The cause of severe poisoning and liver damage is said to be diethyl phthalate and heavy metals that accumulate in the body for a week and a half. Then, with a high degree of probability, toxic hepatitis can be predicted. In just a few days, the geography of poisonings in the region expanded from six to sixteen districts. The leader is the Mikhailovsky district, where the number of poisoned cases, according to the regional prosecutor's office, reaches almost half of all cases in the region. 55 people were hospitalized in the central district hospital of the Frolovsky district, one of them died. Cases of calls regarding alcohol poisoning were recorded in Novoanninsky (26), Ilovlinsky (19), Danilovsky (19), Serafimovichsky (25), Kikvidzensky (13), Elansky (12) districts.
At the end of October, a team of employees from the regional prosecutor's office and the regional police department was sent to the Mikhailovsky district, which revealed serious shortcomings in the work of law enforcement agencies, as well as government and control structures in preventing and suppressing offenses in the sphere of alcohol trafficking. The prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region opened nine criminal cases on the fact of mass poisoning of citizens. Two sellers of counterfeit vodka have already been charged under Art. 238 part 2 paragraph “g” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sale of products that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, resulting in negligence in causing serious harm to health or the death of a person). The head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Volgograd Region, Mikhail Tsukruk, dismissed the head of the Mikhailovsky District Department of Internal Affairs, Fedor Zabaznov.
Among those who were poisoned by surrogate alcohol in the Mikhailovsky district was the deputy head of the district military registration and enlistment office. The main “drinks” that cause severe liver damage have also been identified. Victims most often point to the disinfectant "Extrasept-1", containing 93% industrial alcohol.
Law enforcement agencies in the region have seized more than 33 thousand deciliters of this and similar disinfectants from circulation. Two and a half tons were seized and destroyed in two large northern districts of the region located along the Moscow highway - Mikhailovsky and Novoanninsky.
