Ivan Mironov became the fourth person detained in the case of the attempt on Chubais. According to investigators, he was part of the group of former GRU colonel Vladimir Kvachkov and his fellow special forces soldiers Yashin and Naydenov, who in March last year, when leaving the Minskoye Highway near the village of Zhavoronki, ambushed the motorcade of the head of RAO UES of Russia. Immediately, detectives managed to detain only three alleged participants in the explosion, and several accomplices, including Ivan Mironov and Kvachkov’s son, were put on the wanted list. The prosecutor's office charges all of them with an attempt on the life of a statesman for extremist motives and personal hostility and possession of weapons.
Ivan Mironov was detained on Monday at about 16.00 on Dmitry Ulyanov Street while leaving the apartment of his acquaintances, where, as it turned out, he had been living recently. He offered no resistance. According to some reports, Ivan Mironov lived in Moscow completely calmly for the last month (where he was before is unknown), drove a car, used three mobile phones at once, remaining outside the reach of operatives. The fact that he is in the capital, according to his mother Tatyana Mironova, was reported to the investigation by the dean of the faculty where Ivan submitted his completed candidate's dissertation in history. However, we cannot exclude the possibility that he was simply kept under control for the time being. As Mironov’s lawyer Viktor Vyskrebtsov put it, “Kvachkov’s case simply cracked in court, and the investigation urgently needed new accused.”
According to the lawyer, today the Basmanny Court of Moscow will consider the request of the Prosecutor General's Office to arrest Ivan Mironov. According to Mr. Vyskrebtsov, he is charged with the same thing as everyone else - the attempt on the life of Anatoly Chubais. The detainee himself denies his involvement in the terrorist attack, stating that he has a cast-iron alibi. In addition, he expressed his readiness to cooperate with the investigation, however, after checking his alibi. For his part, Chubais’ lawyer Andrei Shugaev in an interview with Ekho Moskvy noted: “For now, we are only talking about the detention of Ivan Mironov. And the question of whether his guilt will be proven will be decided by the court - naturally, when the preliminary investigation is completed and all proof".
Boris Mironov was arrested around 10 p.m. in the area of the hospital named after. Burdenko at the time of his meeting with his son's lawyer. According to Tatyana Mironova, the operatives simply lured him out of hiding in this way. Having traced the call on a mobile phone, they blocked Boris Mironov’s car and detained him. This operation was carried out by operatives from Novosibirsk. As it turned out yesterday, they managed to catch the former head of Rospechat only on the second attempt. On November 27, they already tried to arrest him during the congress of the Union of Russian People. But then Mironov was defended by the Cossacks, who blocked the path of the police and managed to take him out of the building. Already yesterday, Boris Mironov was taken to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Novosibirsk, where he was charged.
