London resumes court hearings on the death of Princess Diana

On Monday, in London, court hearings are resumed in the case of the death of Princess of Wales Diana and her friend Dodi al-Faida.

The hearings will be held under the leadership of another coroner (forensic expert)-an experienced 73-year-old judge Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, who was appointed deputy royal corner specifically for this case. She has already announced that she plans to complete the consideration of the case for the tenth anniversary of the tragedy - by August 31, 2007, ITAR -TASS reports. Judicial hearings will be based on the results of the investigation of the former commissar Scotland-Jard, Lord John Stevens, who showed that the cause of Princess Diana was an accident.

Under the influence of the public, in particular the father of the deceased Dodi al -Faida - the Egyptian businessman Mohammed al -Faida, insisting on the version of a wide conspiracy of the special services - it was customary to hold all hearings in the regime open for the press and public. The first meetings will be held on January 8 and 9 in the building of the Royal Court on Fleet Street, RIA Novosti reports.

Judicial hearings were formally launched on January 6, 2004 under the leadership of the main coroner of the County of Sarray, who performed the duties of the royal coroner, Michael Burdes. Immediately after the start of the hearing, they were postponed until the end of the investigation, which, on behalf of the court, was conducted by Lord John Stevens.

The investigation of Lord Stevens under the code name Operation Paget began in January 2004 and lasted about three years. As part of the investigation, a thorough examination was carried out at the place of the tragedy, the remains of the car were studied, several thousand evidence and documents were analyzed. Investigators also interrogated two new witnesses from France, who were not covered by a French investigation conducted "in hot pursuit of the 1997 tragedy. The former husband and father -in -law Diana - Prince of Wales Charles and Duke of Edinburgh Philip, gave their testimonies in conversations with Lord Stevens.

The results of the investigation of Lord Stevens, published in December 2006, showed that an accident was the cause of the death of Princess of Wales Diana. This made it possible to announce the resumption of court hearings. “There was no conspiracy to kill those who were in the car that night. It was a tragic accident,” said Lord Stevens.

The investigation also came to the conclusion about the groundlessness of businessman Mohammed al-Faida about the involvement of the British intelligence services in the death of Princess of Wales Diana and his son Dodi al-Faida. “The secret intelligence service (MI-6) and the security service (MI-5) provided me with all possible assistance and cooperation, regardless of whether it was a matter of suspicion of these organizations or not,” said Lord Stevens.

At the same time, he added that the British investigation confirmed the conclusions previously made by the French investigators that in the blood of the driver of the car of the Henri Fields, the amount of alcohol was more than twice as it was permissible by law in the UK, and three times more than permissible in France. He led the car at a speed twice as long as the limit set on that section of the road. Lord Stevens also indicated that passengers of the crashed Mercedes car did not use seat belts. “Diana could not die if she had been fastened,” the head of the investigation stated.

The text 832-page report contains that Princess of Wales was not pregnant during her death. “She was also not engaged and was not prepared for engagement (with Dodie al -Faid - approx. Ed.),” Said Lord Stevens at a press conference.

At the same time, Mohammed al-Faid expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation and disagreement with the estimates of Lord Stevens. “How can I agree with such shocking statements? Princess Wales Diana died as a result of a car accident on the night of August 30-31, 1997. In addition to her, in Mercedes, which was divided in the tunnel under the Alma Square on the Seine embankment in Paris, her satellite Dodi al-Faid, the son of the Mohamed al-Faida, and the driver of Henri Henri Paul died. Only the bodyguard of Princess Diva Ri-Jones, who suffers from amnesia and remembers nothing about the events of the tragic night.
