Vanguard hockey players could not win the continental cup

In the Hungarian Sekereshfehervar, the owner of the continental cup in hockey was determined. They became the Belarusian "Youth", which in a decisive match beat the Omsk Avangard on the shootouts. This is the first success of the representative of Belarusian hockey in European club tournaments.

In the main time of the match and in overtime, the rivals could not print each other's gate, and the decisive penalty was realized by the 40-year-old veteran Minskers Igor Andryushchenko, RIA Novosti reports.

The Vanguard had a numerical advantage 11 times, including four times in the third period, and three times in the second, applying 36 shots on the goal of the 21 -year -old second goalkeeper of Youth Sergey Goryachevsky. At least six candidates for the national team performed as part of the Hawks, ITAR-TASS notes.

Before the personal meeting, representatives of Russia and Belarus won in the final round of the draw two victories over the Finnish "Ilves" and the Hungarian "Albo-Volan".

The continental cup is the second most important club trophy, which has been played in Europe under the auspices of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) for ten years. The only Russian team that previously achieved victory is the Togliatti Lada, which did this last season.

Russian clubs participated three times in these competitions: in 2000, the Kazan Ak Bars took third place, in 2003, the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and in 2005 Moscow Dynamo-the second.
