In Uzbekistan, a human rights activist was beaten, promising to release a number of prisoners for a fee, but did not fulfill his obligations.

The human rights activist Elena Urlaev was attacked by the persons who promised to assist in the release of their close relatives from the places of imprisonment by carrying out the appropriate lawyer, on Monday Interfax, a source in law enforcement agencies.

According to him, at the end of last week, at the building of one of the Tashkent district courts on "a human rights activist who declares himself, a member of the officially unregistered party" Ozod Dehkonar Partyasi "and an activist of the" human rights alliance of Uzbekistan "was an attack."

As the source said, eyewitnesses of the incident note that four women demanded that Urlaeva return the money that they gave to her for help in the release of their loved ones from the imprisonment. However, the human rights activist refused to return the money, referring to some reasons. Between them, a verbal skirmish started, and then the women began to beat Urlaev.

The police did not have time to catch up with the attackers. The victim was provided with medical care, an investigation is being conducted on the fact of hooliganism.

The representative of law enforcement agencies categorically refuted the approval of some electronic media that the attack on the human rights activist is revenge on the police for her active activity related to a number of unauthorized pickets in Tashkent.
