On the conditions of maintaining anonymity, representatives of the US military intelligence informed the New York Times that, along with the CIA services, the Pentagon sends the so -called “security letters” to credit organizations, which contains financial information for a particular resident of the United States. Based on these letters, investigators have the right to receive all their information.

Earlier, the newspaper reports, it was only known that the FBI receives such information. However, nothing was known that the Pentagon traditionally engaged in foreign intelligence and the Pentagon use these letters in order to get information about the inhabitants of the United States, the New York Times notes.

“The Ministry of Defense has the right to do so,” Cheney emphasized. “There is nothing wrong or illegal in this. Such actions do not violate the civil rights of people,” the US President added.
