In Thailand, an investigation of a large railway accident was launched, which occurred early on Sunday morning in the area of ​​the Khuakhin resort city on the coast of the Gulf of Siamese about 180 kilometers south of the capital of the country of Bangkok.

According to preliminary data, the Thai driver, an employee of one of the compositions and another person whose person has not yet been established, died. Earlier, two dead were reported.

Over 60 people were injured. It is known that at least two foreign passengers were injured - Italian and a citizen of Germany, he was provided with the necessary medical care.

In the railway disaster, Russian citizens were not injured. This was reported by ITAR-TASS by the Consul of the Russian Federation in Bangkok Vladimir Pronin. "There are no Russian citizens among the victims in today's railway accident," said the diplomat.

On average, about 100 thousand Russians visit Thailand for a year. The largest influx of Russian tourists is observed during the New Year holidays.

The cause of the accident was the inattention of the driver of the train, which, as the preliminary investigation showed, ignoring the prohibiting signal of the semaphora, took the wrong way and crashed into the oncoming passenger composition. Four cars came off the collision from the rails.
