A Russian disappeared in Iraq

In the fall of last year, the director of the General Construction company Peter Makaykin went to the Iraqi city of Suleimania. According to his wife, his company was to engage in the construction of a hotel by order of the Iraqi company Sherwan General Construction. However, the Iraqis could not pay off the contractors and the construction was slowed down.

The Russians could not go home: Makaykin under the muzzle of the machine forced to sign a new contract and forbidden to leave the construction site. Representatives of the Iraq side called his family with threats and demanded money.

Former Deputy Makaykin Oleg Rudykin confirmed the disappearance of the director of the company. He disappeared on January 8. Since then, neither he nor the blackmailers have gotten in touch anymore.

The wife of the missing person immediately turned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and the embassy in Iraq for help. However, diplomats, she said, did not take any measures to search for her spouse. “The embassy referred to martial law in the country, and the Foreign Ministry simply refused,” says Makaykina.

The Foreign Ministry itself reported that over the past week, information about the Russians missing in Iraq was not received.
