Nationalists are leading the parliamentary elections in Serbia

In the parliamentary elections in Serbia, the law-approval Serbian radical party leads, which gained 27.06% of the vote. These are the preliminary official results of the vote held on Sunday, published today by the Republican Election Commission of the country. They are calculated after processing 21.45% of the ballots.

In second place is the ruling Democratic Party with 22.59% of the vote, ITAR -TASS reports. The Coalition Democratic Party of Serbia - New Serbia gained 16.55% of the vote and took third place. The following is the “Group 17 Plus” with 7.12% of the vote. The five percent barrier necessary for entering the parliament also moved to the opposition Socialist Party of Serbia with 5.75% of the vote and the coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party - the Civil Union of Serbia - the Social -Democratic Union - the Voevodina Social Democrats with 5.47% of the vote.

Of the parties representing the interests of national minorities, the number of votes necessary for the entrance of their representatives to the highest legislative body of Serbia was gained by the Union of Hungarians of Voivodina, the coalition list for Sanjak, the Gypsy Party and the Union of the GSYAN Serbia.

60.49% of voters took advantage of the right to vote. According to the chairman of the Republican Election Commission, Mikhailo Pulich, "the elections were held in a democratic atmosphere without significant violations of the rule of law."

Serbian politicians welcome the completion of the parliamentary elections. "The victory of democracy and the triumph of the democratic forces of Serbia" was called their president Boris Tadich. At the same time, the representative of the party “Group 17 Plus” Suzan Grubeshich expressed confidence that the new government of Serbia will be again formed by the coalition of the democratic and pro -European parties of the country.
