A popular youth resort Olympos burned down in Antalya

In Antalya, the popular youth resort Olympos almost completely burned down. None of the staff and vacationers were injured, ITAR-TASS reports citing local media.

The resort was located far from the highway in the terrain closed mountains on the territory of the Olympos National Park in the county of the Kumluja. There were no hotel rooms - tourists settled in wooden bungalows, most of which were mounted on the branches of powerful relict trees.

The fire occurred on Wednesday. According to the authorities, 90% of buildings burned out. The cause of the incident, according to preliminary data, was not disconnected from the network of the electric power. Material damage from the fire amounted to about 1.4 million dollars.

Firefighters managed to localize the flame and did not allow fire to spread to nearby forests. At the same time, due to the complexity of the extinguishing and the specifics of the object, 100 of 110 trees burned out, which made up the main "infrastructure" of the resort. As a result of the incident, none of the staff or vacationers was injured.

Local authorities said they would try to restore the resort and again open it for the new season or within a year.
