Festival of the Film Def and the Spirit of Fire "

Dmitry Volchek: The stars of European cinema gathered yesterday at the Film Film Film Festival, which opened yesterday in Khanty-Mansiysk. Reporting film critic Andrei Plakhov.

Andrei Plakhov: Four years ago, when the festival in Khanty-Mansiysk was held for the first time, mainly fans of exotic went here, and some foreign filmmakers did not believe: did such a city really exist? Today we can say that several gifted people will write the festival “The Spirit of Fire” at the beginning of their creative biography. This year, the fifth international festival of film defenses collected the cream of world young cinema and the authoritative jury led by Leo Carax. It presents the muse of Bunuel Bul Ozhier, the winner of the Cannes, Venice, Berlin festivals Iranian director Jafar Panahi, the most popular actor of the Slavic world Daniel Olbryski.

At the opening of the festival, a native of Khanty-Mansiysk to the St. Mansiysk director Vitaly Melnikov was awarded the Golden Taiga prize for contribution to cinema. And Leo Karax is the same prize for contribution to cinema, only the world. Karax went on stage with an unnecessary cigarette in his mouth, which immediately reduced the degree of the official pathos of the ceremony, and said: “There is a lot of money in this oil region and, therefore, there will be many good films. Good films have the drawback that are very expensive, but they are also able to bring money. ” The Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug of Yugra Alexander Filippenko picked up an unofficial note and said that there are actually not so much money, the latter scored at the festival.

However, as it turned out, with the support of a local television company, two new projects of the president of the festival Sergey Solovyov “Anna Karenina” and “ASSU-2” were financed, the presentation of both is held as part of the “Spirit of Fire”. There are several programs and retrospectives at the festival: “Panorama of Russian Debuts”, “Myths of the Peoples of the North”, the work of Aka Kaurismaki ”,“ Siberian euphoria ”. The main competition contains films of various genres, they notice the specific taste of countries and cultures, regional traditions in their collision with the global challenges of our time. Kazakhstan, Finland, Switzerland, Brazil, Mongolia and the former, no longer existing the country of the GDR - these are just some of the places where the actions of competitive films are played.

The first of those shown - “Dreams of Pisces” was shot by Kirill Mikhanovsky, who was born in Russia, who grew up in the United States and spent more than a year in Brazil to make this poetic movie in an authentic fishing village, reviving the traditions of the early Wisconti and Pazolini. Following it, the Hungarian social psychological drama “Clean Air” directed by Agnesh Kosis and the first of the two Russian competitive films “Swallows flew” from Ossetia Aslan Galazov, dedicated to the issue of drug addiction. The competition is participated in the "euphoria" of Ivan Vyrypaev. Protecting prizes and closing the festival will take place on Wednesday next week.
