In Europe, a single standard for the size of clothing is introduced, representatives of Italian clothing manufacturers told reporters after the meeting, which took place on Monday in Milan at the National Textile Association (Unitex).
The new standard, which was called EN 13402, will soon be introduced in all European states, RIA Novosti reports.
Having taken into account the fact that the Italians, like other Europeans, on average higher and larger than 50 years ago, the European Normative Committee proposed a new system of standards and codification of sizes.
“The introduction of a single European size became necessary to avoid confusion when buying clothes. This historical decision will benefit everyone. Both clothing manufacturers and its sellers, and, most importantly, to the consumer,” said UNITEX President Lodovico Jacker.
The new size system for adults will consist of the following elements: breast volume, waist volume and product length. In the size of children's clothing, in addition to existing child growth parameters, the volume of the chest and waist will also be indicated, which is important when choosing things for large or full children.
