The International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA) decided to freeze two dozen programs of interaction with Iran in the nuclear region. Such a decision was made at the Council of Managers of the IAEA, who is now taking place in Vienna.
According to the plan, the participation of the IAEA specialists in 23 out of 55 projects to Iran’s assistance is frozen or limited, Echo Moscow reports. This is a compromise solution: representatives of the Western powers insisted on more serious measures, and participants in the movement of non -alignment - to refuse any sanctions.
Other programs by which Tehran interacts with the UN and which will not be frozen are implemented in the field of food supply, agriculture and medical care.
The maintenance of such sanctions is allowed by the UN Security Council, adopted on December 23, in connection with Iran’s refusal to freeze its nuclear program. In the near future, five permanent members of the Security Council, including Russia, will gather to discuss additional measures of influence. According to ITAR-TASS, a new resolution on Iran can be adopted in March.
- The nuclear center in Natanze continues to work under international control
- Russia remains committed to negotiations, although it is unhappy with Iran
- Western special services can help the abducted deputy minister of defense of Iran
- "Atomstroyxport" agrees on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Busher
Until now, in the history of the existence of the IAEA, such sanctions were used only twice - against the DPRK and Iraq, when in the early 90s serious suspicions arose regarding their violation of the non -proliferation of nuclear weapons.
The representative of Iran at the IAEA Ali Asgar Soltani expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Administrative Council and condemned in this regard the rough intervention of the UN Security Council into the activities of the agency. According to him, not one of the "frozen" projects has anything to do with the nuclear fuel cycle, which Iran will still develop no matter what.
Earlier, the chief representative of Egypt at the agency Ramzi Izzedin Ramzi assumpted that the programs could be curtailed. Thursday is the last day of the meeting at which the world community is discussing the ways of solving nuclear problems of Iran and North Korea on Monday. “I did not hear someone expressed displeasure (about this),” Ramzi told reporters.
The project of the new resolution proposed by Germany proposes, in particular, to introduce a ban on visiting the EU by people related to Iranian nuclear and missile programs. In addition, there is a proposal to limit the study of Iranians on the territory of Europe objects associated with nuclear distribution.
Iran constantly claims that its nuclear program is exclusively peaceful, and the claims of the Western community are illegal. At the same time, the Magate experts failed to conclude that Iran’s efforts were aimed at taming an exclusively peaceful atom.
Iran: this decision is a blow to the reputation of the IA
The Magate decision to reduce the volume of technical assistance to Iran negatively affected the reputation of the agency, said the official representative of the Islamic Republic under the IAEA Ali Asgar Solca in Vienna.
“For the first time in history, the authority of this international organization suffered,” the Iranian diplomat emphasized. "The professionalism and impartiality of the IAEA should not be damaged under the influence of the political motivation of the UN Security Council, which seeks to dictate its conditions to the agency," he added.
Solka also warned that today's Magate decision would not affect the implementation of the Iranian nuclear program. "None of the suspended projects is associated with the activities of Iran to enrich Uranus, therefore, in accordance with the Agreement on guarantees with the IAEA, this activity will continue," he said.
The nuclear center in Natanze continues to work under international control
Iran continues to enrich Uranus at a nuclear facility in Natanze under the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic under the IAEA Ali Asgar Solca.
Enrichment of Uranus and the work of the Center in Natanze continues according to the established plan, ”the Iranian diplomat emphasized on the eve of today's meeting of the session of the Council of Management Magate. He confirmed that" all the activities of the facility in Natanze are carried out under the full control of the agency. "
On Monday, the European Troika (Great Britain, France and Germany), with the support of the United States, presented the details of the new project at the New York unofficial consultations in the Six format (five permanent members of the UN and Germany Security Council). Western countries achieve a "phased and gradual" intensification of pressure on Tehran, which refuses to suspend nuclear developments, considering them as its "legal and integral right."
Russia remains committed to negotiations, although it is unhappy with Iran
Russia was and remains committed to the "negotiation solution of the Iranian nuclear problem and calls on all interested parties, including Iran, to contribute to the speedy start of the relevant negotiations." The corresponding statement was made on Thursday by the manager from Russia Grigory Berdennikov. “There is no alternative to such an approach,” he emphasized.
The Russian representative urged Tehran to contribute to the speedy clarification of all the issues that remain unresolved about the nature and scale of the Iranian nuclear program. "The uncertainty for a long time in the nuclear region does not contribute to the implementation and development of full cooperation with him in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy," Berdennikov emphasized.
The Russian representative noted that in the report of the General Director of the IAEA regarding Iran’s fulfillment of obligations by agreement on guarantees with the agency, as well as the requirements of the resolutions of the Administrative Offenses of the IAEA and the UN Security Council, an objective picture of the provision of cases is given. ”
“Iran did not suspend his activities related to the enrichment of uranium,” he explained. “In addition, work is underway to increase the appropriate capacities. Projects related to heavy water are also ongoing.”
As follows from the report, Berdennikov continued, Iran "provides the agency" access to the declared nuclear materials and installations "and provides the necessary reports on accounting for nuclear material." This, according to him, allows us to make a conclusion that "the agency can verify the non -rejection of the declared nuclear material for military purposes." At the same time, Bervnikov said, according to the report, "the Iranian side is still the Iranian side He does not take adequate measures aimed at ensuring the conditions for the IAEA to advance in his efforts to complete the check of the past nuclear program of Iran. "In this regard, he summed up," the agency cannot guarantee the lack of non -betrayed nuclear materials and irrelevant nuclear activities, as well as an exceptionally peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program. "
The manager from Russia expressed support for the efforts of the leadership of the agency to resolve the Iranian problem and emphasized that "the role of the IAEA in solving all the preserved issues in this direction remains very important."
Atomstroyxport agrees on the construction of nuclear power plants in Busher
Negotiations of the Russian company Atomstroykport and the Iranian delegation regarding the financing of the construction of nuclear power plants in the Bushera are active for the second day. According to ITAR-TASS, a representative of the Russian company, at present atomstroy export is studying the proposals of the Iranian side to resolve the situation with the underfinance nuclear power plant.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, “negotiations are held in working mode,” and it is too early to talk about any preliminary results.
Russian-Iranian negotiations on the settlement of issues of the construction of a nuclear power plant in Bushera began on March 7 after the arrival of the Iranian delegation to Moscow, led by Vice President of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Saydi. The Russian parties at the negotiations are president of the Atomstroykport (General Contractor of the Bushersky NPP) Sergey Shmatko.
Western special services can help the abducted deputy minister of defense of Iran
A retired Israeli spy said that the former deputy minister of defense of Iran, who disappeared, possibly during the operation of Western intelligence services, is known in Israel as the "creator" of the Lebanese Group Hizballah.
63-year-old Ali Reza Askari disappeared in February during a trip to Turkey, reminds The Washington Times . (Full text on the website inopressa.ru .) The Turkish newspaper Hurriet reported without reference to sources that he participated in the Iranian nuclear program. If this is true, it may turn out to be extremely valuable prey for the Western and Israeli special services.
Former Israeli foreign intelligence officer Mossad Ram Game said that before arriving at the Askari Ministry of Defense, he was the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Corps - the main force in support of the Chizballah Shiite militants. “In the 1980s and in the early 1990s, Askari was responsible for the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Corps in Lebanon. Its value in this, and not in relations with the Iranian Ministry of Defense,” the game of Israeli said. “He lived in Lebanon and, in fact, was a man who founded Hizballah and helped her gain strength.”
