Mexico police disperses the protesters against Bush's visit: there are wounded

In the Mexican capital on Tuesday, clashes occurred between the police and demonstrators protesting against the visit to the Latin American country of George Bush. Manifestants gathered at the US Embassy building, chanting anti -imperialist and anti -American slogans.

Some of them tried to break through the police barriers, which led to fierce skirmishes, which resulted in the wounded. The police used to disperse the demonstration of the club and tear gas.

Protest manifestations were also held in the capital of the Southeast state of Yukatan - the city of Merida, where the US President is now on a visit. A separate group of protesters gathered near the complex of ancient pyramids Maya Ushmal, who visited George Bush on Tuesday. The path to the pyramids closed in connection with a visit for tourists, the manifestants blocked the police posts.

Meanwhile, the two -day visit of the US President to Mexico revealed differences in the approaches to such acute problems in the relations of Washington and Mexico City as the fight against drug business and control of migration processes. Mexico President Felipe Calderon on Tuesday explicitly stated that the struggle against drug mafia in the country cannot be successful without reducing drug consumption in neighboring USs.

They do not agree in Mexico and with Washington, the construction of more than a thousand -kilometer barrage strip on the southern border. According to the Mexican President, investments in the economy of the Latin American country are much more effective for reducing the flow of illegal immigrants than the construction of new border barriers.

Calderon urged Bush, finally, to fulfill his promises of six years ago and make a priority direction of the External Policy of the White House Relations with Latin America and Mexico. The American president promised, for his part, to “make everything possible” for promoting the migration bill in the Congress with appropriate amendments, which affects the fate of millions of Mexicans and immigrants from other Latin America countries.

An important place in the course of negotiations of the heads of state was given to ensuring security at joint borders and the development of trade. Mexico is included in the top three main trade and economic partners of the United States. Both countries participate together with Canada in a regional integration project, known as the North American free trade zone.

Negotiations took place in the silence of the state of Merida - an old ranch, which was turned into a chic hotel, remote from the capital of the state. George Bush visited the ancient Mayan pyramids in Ushmal, where, for security reasons, access was closed in advance to tourists.

Today, the US president must leave Mexico, having completed a long tour, during which he also visited Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Guatemala. Everywhere in Latin America, the stay of the head of the White House was accompanied by manifestations of protest against Washington’s policy in the region and in the world, in general.
