The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is going to exchange information about stolen machines for 100 liters of gasoline

In each country, detectives investigating cases of car thefts have their own branded methods of working with informants. In some states, wealthy citizens are reduced by tax rates, in others they give out certificates of freelance police officers. But in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine they went even further. For reliable information about the location of the abducted transport or the executors of the theft, police promise a prize of a hundred liters of gasoline.

In the implementation of his new initiative, writes the Moscow Komsomolets , the traffic police assign special hopes to taxi drivers, because, according to statistics, representatives of this particular profession are more likely to wit different crimes. As a factor encouraging the intentions of local traffic cops, one can cite data on theft in the territory of the Vinnitsa region of the country. In total, in 2006, 161 cases of illegal seizure of transport were registered there, and, to the honor of police officers, 85 % of the stolen cars were returned to legal owners. According to sources on the local traffic inspectorate, 23 cars helped to find taxi drivers.

One hundred liters of gasoline, by current standards, is a very valuable gift for Ukrainian motorists, and police officers are sure that the fuel barrel will spur many driver to look at both. At the same time, traffic cops are afraid that their generosity can go sideways: for the sake of treasured liters, some citizens will want to stage the hijacking of a neighboring car, and then, having informed the police about the location of the supposedly stolen car, demand gasoline. However, law enforcement agencies are ready to take a chance, because the capture of one autovor will more than pay off the fuel given to the fuel informers.
