The United States "is ready and agreed to cooperate Russia with Iran in the field of nuclear energy in the event that Russia will supply fuel to Iran, the spent fuel will return to the Russian Federation, and the cooperation itself will be based solely on peaceful energy." This was stated in Moscow by the First Deputy Head of the US Ministry of Energy Kleiton Sell.
“Russia has agreements with Iran for cooperation, the construction of nuclear power plants in Bushera,” Sell said. “We (USA) are ready and agree to this under the above conditions.”
“Russia has the right approach to the situation around Iran’s nuclear problem,” Sell is convinced. At the same time, he remarked, "Iran, indeed, has an intention to create nuclear weapons."
The United States of America "is interested in Russian investments in the energy sector," Sell also said. "Over the past few years, the volume of Russian investments in the USA and the American in Russia has increased significantly," he said, referring to the energy sector. "Russia and the United States have a mutual desire to expand the possibility of using nuclear energy, this is expressed in the initiatives of the presidents in atomic cooperation and the creation of enrichment centers," Sell emphasized.
In his opinion, “the USA and Russia can interact, including with other countries, to provide services for modernization of nuclear power plants in order to prevent distribution”.
“At the same time, American companies are faced with certain barriers in the projects of energy cooperation in Russia,” said Sell. He expressed the hope that "with the emergence of needs for complex technologies, Russian companies will invite American partners in cooperation."
The United States has concluded a contract in Russia "to ensure safety of an additional 23 facilities to destroy nuclear materials in the Russian Federation," said Sell.
He recalled that in Russia, "the United States is implementing a program that allows to ensure the safety of nuclear materials." "We intend to cooperate further in the field of disposal of nuclear waste," said Sell.
According to him, "this cooperation is very successful." “The strategic rivalry of the USSR and the United States has gone the past, our relations are no longer characterized by the old time,” he said. They have gained special importance of partnership. ”
In his opinion, the main factor in this partnership "is precisely energy interaction." “We can do a lot in the energy region,” he said. “Russia and the United States have a good and thorough story of cooperation in the field of non -proliferation. We have very great opportunities here.”
